Position Objectives:
Casual EMRs and EMTs are paid staff members of the City of Jackson, who respond to 911 calls and interhospital transfers for the Jackson Ambulance Service. Casual employees are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per month. This requirement can be fulfilled by working on call or on duty shifts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide on-scene and mobile care to patients during a 911 response.
- Provide care to patients during inter-hospital transfers.
- Provide appropriate patient care as stipulated in their training as an EMR/EMT.
- Appropriately assess a patient and accurately convey the condition to other medical professionals.
- Provide appropriate documentation.
- Maintain the vehicle in sanitary condition, in addition to monitoring all fluid levels and gauges.
Minimum Requirements:
Please still apply if you have the ability to acquire the minimum requirements, but do not currently possess them
- Current Minnesota EMR/EMT certification or NREMT certification.
- Current AHA CPR provider card.
- Ability to provide - medical care, at the EMR/EMT level, while safely transporting patients.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Pass a pre-employment interview including a physical and lifting examination, drug screen, and background check.
